Service Description
Traditional Powwow Regalia Making Workshop Honoring Our Traditions Through Art, Craft, and Teaching Join us for a hands-on, multi-day workshop celebrating the beauty and cultural significance of powwow regalia. Participants will learn to design and create traditional pieces for both men’s and women’s dance categories, guided by experienced regalia makers, artists, and knowledge keepers. This workshop offers a safe, respectful, and creative space to learn the skills, stories, and teachings that come with making regalia — from sewing and beadwork to featherwork and finishing details. Workshop Highlights Men’s Regalia Making: Bustles: Learn to design and assemble traditional or contemporary bustles using feathers, leather, and sinew. Chest Plates: Construct bone and hair pipe chest plates, understanding traditional patterns and meanings. Plumes & Featherwork: Prepare, wrap, and attach feathers in a respectful way. Shields: Craft personal dance shields with leather and paint. Arm Cuffs & Bands: Design and create beaded or ribbon-decorated cuffs. Fans: Make flat or wing fans with natural materials and teachings around their sacred use. Women’s Regalia Making: Dresses: Learn about traditional and contemporary styles such as jingle, fancy shawl, and traditional cloth or buckskin. Beadwork: Create medallions, moccasin tops, hair ties, or dress accents using flat or loom beadwork. Shawls & Ribbon Skirts: Learn design, cutting, and ribbon application, with teachings about color and meaning. Accessories: Craft items such as purses, belts, and hairpieces that complete women’s regalia. Featherwork & Plumes: Proper wrapping and placement, honoring women’s roles in dance and ceremony. Closing This workshop is more than crafting regalia — it’s about strengthening identity, community, and connection. We look forward to creating, learning, and growing together in a good way.
Cancellation Policy
We understand plans can change. To help us serve everyone effectively, please notify us at least 7 days before your scheduled booking for programing & services for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations: Cancel 7 days or more in advance for a full refund or credit toward a future program. Cancel within 7 days of the start date, refunds may be limited or unavailable due to planning and resources. No refunds for no-shows. Rescheduling: Requests to reschedule made 7 days or more before your program will be accommodated whenever possible.
