Service Description

Shane Bird — Walking the Red Road of Healing and Hope Shane Bird is a resilient and courageous Indigenous man whose life journey stands as a powerful testament to overcoming adversity, reclaiming identity, and embracing healing. For sixteen years, Shane faced the difficult realities of addiction, mental health challenges, and intergenerational trauma—struggles that have shaped his deep understanding of pain, perseverance, and transformation. Through the strength of song, dance, ceremony, and traditional healing practices, Shane found his path to recovery and has maintained his sobriety with determination and faith. Today, he dedicates his life to inspiring others to walk the red road of recovery—a path grounded in cultural teachings, balance, and respect. A survivor of many forms of trauma, Shane has endured discrimination, lateral violence, and stigma—barriers that often confront those who choose to heal and change. Despite these challenges, Shane continues to rise with compassion and courage, using his experiences as a source of hope, strength, and advocacy for others. Guided by the Nehithow (Cree) way of life, Shane lives with humility, respect, and generosity—values that are evident in every aspect of his work. Whether through motivational speaking, cultural performance, mentorship, or community outreach, he shares his story to remind others that healing is possible, and that every person carries the strength of their ancestors within them. Shane’s mission is to empower youth, families, and communities to reconnect with their cultural roots, embrace healing, and rise above adversity.
