Indigenous Youth Land-Based Camps
Led by Shane Bird, these Indigenous Youth Land-Based Camps have empowered hundreds of young people through over 90+ camps across the seasons. Rooted in culture, tradition, and connection to the land, each camp provides holistic healing and educational experiences that strengthen identity, resilience, and leadership.
Seasonal Land-Based Camps:
Shane offers year-round camps that adapt to the rhythm of the land and the teachings of each season:
Winter Camps – Emphasize survival skills, storytelling, traditional teachings around the fire, and the importance of reflection, balance, and community warmth.
Spring Camps – Focus on renewal, ceremony, preparing the land, and teachings around growth, relationships, and wellness.
Summer Camps – Include hands-on activities such as canoeing, fishing, drumming, and language workshops, promoting teamwork, empowerment, and self-discovery.
Fall Camps – Highlight hunting, trapping, harvesting, and gratitude ceremonies, connecting youth to cycles of the land and sustainability.
Program Focus:
Each camp integrates traditional Indigenous knowledge and land-based healing with modern approaches to wellness, exploring topics such as:
Addictions and recovery
Grief and loss
Youth empowerment and leadership
Mental health and emotional balance
Healing from intergenerational trauma
Traditional laws and protocols
Culture, language, and identity
Purpose and Vision
These camps foster a deep sense of belonging, pride, and purpose. Through a balance of land, culture, and healing, Shane Bird continues to inspire Indigenous youth to reconnect with their roots, build life skills, and walk proudly in both worlds — traditional and modern.
